Chamber applauds MLA’s new Cabinet post

(TRI-CITIES) Sept. 5 – Premier Christy Clark Cabinet shuffle on Thursday is being applauded by the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce. The shuffle includes moving C0quitlam-Burke Mountain MLA Douglas Horne into the position of Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier.

“We’re pleased to see MLA Doug Horne has been given a position in Cabinet,” said Michael Hind, executive director of the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce. “He has worked extremely hard for the people in his riding and the Tri-Cities in general.
“We fully expect he will continue his hard work and that’s going to benefit all of B.C,” said Hind.
Horne has been supportive of the Tri-Cities Chamber and regularly attends the organization’s many business and community events.

The Chamber also looks forward to working with Naomi Yamamoto, B.C.’s new Minister of State for Small Business.
“Our chamber and those around the province are looking forward to meeting with the minister to discuss issues affecting businesses of all sizes,” said Hind. “As a chamber it is our responsibility to be advocates for small business and we will share those views with Minister Yamamoto.

B.C.’s small businesses represent 98 per cent of all businesses in the province, according to B.C. Government statistics. Companies with less than 50 employees employ 57 per cent of the provincial labour force – making small business a vital economic engine.
