Dishwasher / Prep Cook (Entry Level Position)

We are excited to begin our search for the perfect candidates for the entry level position of Cook. This position is seasonal, with part-time hours available from April to December. There will be opportunities to work year-round for our top employees. The cook position may work for banquet prep, banquet dinner service and/or Après restaurant line. 

At Westwood Plateau Golf, we count on our kitchen staff to interact professionally with our team when they have questions or concerns. The ideal candidate is a quick learner who can think on their feet and resolve any issues that come up with our customer-first business mentality. The most successful representatives have the communication and interpersonal skills needed to provide support, answer questions, and problem solve in an efficient manner. All new employees will be trained on health and safety during orientation and expected to retain information on Westwood Plateau kitchen policies and procedures. 

While this outline attempts to be all encompassing, this position will evolve beyond these categories. This role is expected to anticipate business needs and to do anything that will help Westwood Plateau Golf accomplish its department objectives. 

  • • To work directly under the Executive Chef, Sous chef and Cooks. 
  • • Reliable and consistent means of getting to and from work. 
  • • Learn the kitchen manual and know it well. 
  • • Have to learn basic knife skills. 
  • • Sweep the floor and take out the garbage as necessary. 
  • • Have an open mind towards all kinds of food and try them. 
  • • Have high hygiene and personal cleanliness standards. 
  • • Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the kitchen. 
  • • Help to put food deliveries away after checking for quality, in proper places and in proper rotation. 
  • • Ensures products are covered, labelled and stored correctly as needed. 
  • • Identify, clean and uses all kitchen equipment in the department correctly. 
  • • Ensure that all dishes and cutlery are available and in stock for the kitchen and restaurant. 
  • • Change linen bag when necessary. 
  • • Make sure the garbage cans are emptied and cleaned for the next day. 
  • • To keep the line stocked with plates and the appropriate china. 
  • • Help the cooks with prep when the dish workload is low. 
  • • Handle all utensils and equipment with care and attention. 
  • • Flattening cardboard boxes and not letting it pile up. 
  • • Keep the janitor's room neat, clean and tidy. 


Job Type: Part-time 


Salary: $15.65 per hour plus gratuities
