The Freshet is an independent nonprofit news co-operative that puts community ahead of corporate interests and profits. We serve 600,000 readers in New Westminster, Burnaby and the Tri-Cities in British Columbia, Canada. We are supported by individual, corporate and philanthropic donors; businesses; advertisers; and unions. We also receive funding at events.
Our Editorial Standards
Founded in the spring of 2025 following the closure of our three news outlets — the New Westminster Record, the Burnaby Now and the Tri-City News — our team of independent journalists works to provide transparency by sharing original and quality content on our news platforms. We cite our sources and give credit to our news collaborators. We commit to publishing accurate, contemporaneous and fair news coverage
