3rd Annual Kwikwetlem Business Park Open House

3rd Annual Kwikwetlem Business Park Open House

October 3, 2018 (5:00 PM - 8:00 PM) (PDT)

Description

Kwikwetlem First Nation (KFN) Chief Ron Giesbrecht today announced that the 3rd Annual Community Open House to share information about the Kwikwetlem Business Park will be held on Oct 03. The event will be held in the Coquitlam ECBC Community Hall (2606 Kingsway Ave – Port Coquitlam) between 5:00-8:00 p.m.
People attending the 3rd Annual Community Open House will learn more about project progress achieved this year and plans for 2019. KFN Enterprises (KFNE) is building the Business Park on behalf of KFN. Staff will also be available to discuss plans for the Kwikwetlem Health & Wellness Centre, safety work carried out in recent weeks near the Dyke Trail, development plans for the business park and ongoing negotiations aimed at a services agreement with the City of Port Coquitlam for water and sewer utilities and a head lease from Indigenous Services Canada which is required to facilitate leasing building lots within the Business Park with prospective leasers.
KFN Chief Giesbrecht states “Our annual Community Open House allows us to connect with people in Port Coquitlam and the Tri-Cities area, business and community leaders and others with an interest in our project. We believe that it is important to ensure that people in the community have up-to-date, factual information about our project. The Community Open House allows our staff to meet community members, share information and answer questions. It is part of efforts to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with our communities and individuals.”
Chief Giesbrecht continued “Our project will create approximately 5000 jobs and substantial new taxes to help support the community. KFN currently has about 140 members so this means that the majority of people coming to work each day at the Business Park will be non-indigenous. Our Health & Wellness Centre will welcome our members and non-indigenous clients as well so it is vital in our view to ensure that people in our communities have the opportunity to learn more about our project. It will be a game-changer for Port Coquitlam, the Tri-Cities and Metro Vancouver.”
