You’re invited to celebrate the New Year and honour our community’s Canada 150 leaders at my office. Come for a cup of coffee! Canadians across the country celebrated Canada’s 150th anniversary of confederation. To mark this special occasion I am presenting twenty limited edition sesquicentennial pins to local community leaders. More Information on the Canada 150 Leadership Pins: Over the summer Coquitlam-Port Coquitlam residents nominated their peers who have made a difference. The nominees represented our everyday leaders who work hard to make a positive contribution to Coquitlam-Port Coquitlam. Along with input from Port Coquitlam Mayor Greg Moore and Coquitlam Mayor Richard Stewart, I adjudicated all nominations. Preference was given to nominees who demonstrated one of the four pillars of Canada’s sesquicentennial celebrations: diversity and inclusion; national reconciliation of Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians; environmental stewardship; and youth matters. Each winner will be awarded a collectible sesquicentennial pin, which is constructed with 100-year-old copper from the West Block of Parliament Hill.
