Coquitlam Express to Host Historic Celebration of Tri-Cities Olympians

On Friday February 20th, the Coquitlam Express will host a community celebration unlike anything the Tri-Cities has seen before — a night honoring every local athlete who has competed at the Olympic level.

This isn't about medals. It's about recognizing the extraordinary achievement of reaching the world's biggest stage, and celebrating the dedication, sacrifice, and excellence that defines our community's sporting culture.

A Rare Gathering of Champions

The evening will bring together Olympians spanning generations and disciplines, including Special Olympians whose journeys embody perseverance and courage. Confirmed participants include:

• BC Sports Hall of Fame
• Special Olympics BC
• KidSport, represented by Chris Wilson (Wrestling, Barcelona 1992) and Coquitlam Sports Hall of Fame Committee member
• Larkyn Austman (2018 Canadian Olympic Team)
• Connor Leighton and Emma Abu-Ata, Special Olympics athletes
• Former and current Olympians from across the Tri-Cities

Why This Matters

Young athletes will see what's possible. Families will celebrate the champions who represent our community. And for one night, the arena will be filled with the people who have built our sporting legacy — athletes, coaches, volunteers, and supporters.

This is a once-in-a-generation recognition of Tri-Cities athletic excellence, rooted in inclusion, community pride, and shared values.
