The Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce is excited to host its 4th annual Economic Summit. 2018's event will feature a keynote address from Niels Veldhuis, President of The Fraser Institute and two panels made up of industry experts, all over a full-buffet breakfast. You will have the opportunity to hear from leaders in blockchain technology and to discuss the economic impacts of the legalization of cannabis.

Niels Veldhuis, President of The Fraser Institute

While the Canadian economy fared relatively well during the great global economic upheaval of 2008 and its aftermath, Canada currently faces serious economic challenges. Business investment ranks second-lowest among advanced economies. And according to forecasts, we can expect weak economic growth going forward. Unfortunately, Canadians have seemingly been lulled into a sense of complacency about Canada's economic competitiveness, and this federal government and many provinces have not pursued sound economic policies. Crucially, this comes at a time when the U.S. has made itself significantly more attractive to investment thanks to a series of policies including sweeping tax reform.
