Coquitlam Centre is proud to be presenting The Ultimate Online Auction - a fundraiser for the I AM SOMEONE Ending Bullying Society, to launch a Help Text Messaging Platform to provide help to youths affected by bullying who need immediate help and support.

This brand new charity fundraising initiative will see all of the proceeds go to support the I AM SOMEONE Ending Bullying, and their launch of the Help Text Messaging Platform.

We’ve all been touched by bullying in our lives, whether it’s personal, or done to a family member or a friend, or a news story where some young person wasn’t able to cope anymore and took their own life. At least 1 in 3 adolescent students in Canada have reported being bullied recently. Canada has the 9th highest rate of bullying in the 13-years-old category, out of 35 countries.

Almost 90% of parents think their children will tell them if they are being bullied – yet only 8% of them will. For youth in crisis, the ability to reach out for help in the most comfortable and convenient way possible is crucial – this service will offer that.

During the month of October, Coquitlam Centre and Vancity will also be selling I AM SOMEONE ‘Bullying’ Emoticon Buttons for $5 a button, all proceeds to the I AM SOMEONE Ending Bullying Society, and their 2TALK (28255) Bullying Help Text Messaging Platform Pilot, now available to youth in the Tri-Cities.
