New Anti-Spam Regulations: Is Your Business Prepared? - FULL

May 1, 2014 (1:00 PM - 2:30 PM) (PDT)

Description

Canada has passed the toughest spam laws in the world, and they redefine how you can legally communicate with customers, prospects, and partners online.

CASL comes into force on July 1st, giving businesses just 6 months to bring their marketing and sales processes into compliance. It allows for stiff penalties (up to $10 Million) for non-compliance, and leaves officers and directors vulnerable to personal liability in the event of a breach. If you use the internet to communicate with prospects, partners or customers, this workshop is for you. In this workshop, you will learn:

  • What CASL is

  • What the penalties are and how they will be assessed

  • What types of communication will be allowed

  • What you must stop doing and what you need to change

This session will be lead by Paula Skaper, President and Founder of Kinetix Media Communications. Paula is an e-business expert with over 20 years of media and digital marketing experience. Paula has enjoyed a career spanning more than 20 years, including stints as a live TV host, writer and publishing executive, as well as starting and operating one of BC's leading digital marketing agencies. Paula has implemented successful online strategies for a diverse array of clients including Blue Shore Credit Union, Intrawest Real Estate, Future Shop/Best Buy and the Pacific National Exhibition. Paula regularly writes and speaks on the subject of profitable digital conversations.

More about Kinetix

A full-service inbound marketing agency, Kinetix Media Communications helps B2B businesses get more leads online. The agency works with manufacturing, financial services and retail businesses to achieve growth through strategic marketing and communications programs.

Founded in January 2000 by Paula Skaper, Kinetix was instrumental in driving the early ecommerce strategies for Future Shop (now Best Buy Canada/Future Shop) and developing resort-launch emarketing strategies for Intrawest Resorts through their work on the launch of Montelago Resort at Lake Las Vegas. In 2005, Kinetix merged with Forge eMarketing to become the leading provider of email marketing services in Western Canada. At the same time, emerging technologies like RSS, social media and mobile marketing were changing not only the face of email, but the way customers received and consumed marketing messages. The company expanded again in 2007 to include a broader range of content marketing and lead generation solutions. In 2010, Kinetix relocated to South Burnaby, opening a green-screen video production studio and launching a digital video division in 2011.

Today Kinetix works with clients as diverse as Blue Shore Credit Union, Destination BC, and PrismTech Graphics to communicate effectively with clients and prospects online to drive new business growth and improve client retention.
