What the presentation will cover:

MNP’s Cyber Security experts will discuss the increasing cyber security risks to small businesses as their business models continue to change and businesses rely more on technology for such things such as eCommerce, remote employees and marketing. Attendees will obtain information on:

  • Current risks and threats business are facing
  • What can your business do to protect itself?
  • Potential costs and impacts of falling victim
  • Importance of education, training and awareness
We will also review a case study of a local small business, and MNP client, that was hit with a ransomware attack in February 2020, and discuss what you can do to avoid a similar incident.

With over 25 years of experience, Ron provides IT security consulting to both public and private organizations, including governments, merchants, and service providers. He takes pride in finding the most efficient, cost-effective solutions for his clients and in reducing their risk through the development of internal and external controls. Ron has extensive experience in payment card systems and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance. He has provided services ranging from the auditor (PCI QSA) to assisting with remediation activities that were required for both small businesses and extremely large organizations.

Ryan's areas of expertise include corporate and individual tax, accounting and consulting on issues such as sale of businesses, corporate restructuring and succession planning. Ryan has introduced MNP’s Cyber Security team to many of his clients to assist them in proactively strengthening and improving their IT security. Ryan takes pride in building strong relationships with his clients to ensure he can provide solutions tailored for every situation. Ryan completed a Bachelor of Accounting degree and a Financial Management diploma from BCIT and holds the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Accountant (CA) designations.
