Come join New View Society in partnership with Avia Employment Services for this informative afternoon seminar on MENTAL HEALTH and the WORKPLACE.


Topics to be covered include:
  • How to identify the signs and symptoms of mental illness (including substance abuse).
  • How do I approach an employee/person who may be in crisis?
  • What might you say and more importantly “not say” to an employee or a co-worker.
  • How do unresolved mental health issues affect your bottom line? (The economics of absenteeism)
  • How can your workplace better accommodate and support people living with or supporting a loved one with a mental health problem?

Who Should Attend?   Business Owners, HR Professionals, Frontline Workers, Community Workers, and anyone with an interest in the issue of mental health.

About the Presenter - Donna Bonertz
Donna has 23 years of experience in the mental health and substance use field. Her background is in social work, in particular working with vulnerable populations.  She currently works in vocational rehabilitation with the New View Society.  Donna is passionate about mental health education and the recovery process and finds witnessing the growth and success of others most rewarding.  She is a certified instructor through Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Canada.  Proceeds from the delivery of MHFA courses go directly to the New View Society and the programs that serve their members.


About New View Society - we are a non-profit organization dedicated to sustainable mental wellness. The Society was formed in 1973 when Riverview Hospital began downsizing. We provide housing and community living support, employment services, and social and personal growth opportunities to adults with a mental health diagnosis in the Tri-Cities. 

*All proceeds from the registration fees will be donated to the New View Society.
