Urban Food & Fibre Walk

Urban Food & Fibre Walk

April 14, 2018 (2:00 PM - 3:30 PM) (PDT)

Description

Learn to identify local city plants that are useful for food or fibre; stinging nettle, plantain, fireweed, English ivy, blackberry and lamb’s quarters are plants we might find along the way. We'll talk about what it means to forage and how we can do it in a respectful manner, as the First Nations did; share recipe ideas; and practice the techniques for harvesting fibre from the plants in season. We'll show samples of processed plants and end the walk with a cup of tea made with locally foraged offerings. Open to all ages. Registration required. By Donation.
